Don's consulting expertise and career is COMPLETELY focused on aircraft accident investigation (AAI) and the aviation/aerospace industry. He has conducted hundreds of comprehensive AAIs domestically and internationally since 1991. He has "hands-on" experience as an airplane and helicopter A&P Mechanic since 1981, a pilot since 1984, and a mechanical engineer since 1990. He's very adept with troubleshooting problems, “reading” wreckage and material failures, identifying potential hazards, and developing safer and more efficient systems and operations. Don has worked as an engineer with Beechcraft and Boeing, and assisted the FAA, NTSB, and foreign government agencies involving air safety issues. He was the Director of Aviation for an established engineering and accident investigation firm prior to successfully guiding Knutson Aviation Services (KAS) since 2002. He enjoys providing AAI-related education for companies, universities, and professional organizations. Furthermore, he has helped train/mentor numerous aviators, engineers, investigators who worked for the NTSB and other foreign investigation agencies, attorneys, and AAI consultants.
